A loan of $200 helped to buy alpaca wool.

Lucinda's story

Lucinda is a 53 year old, very joyful woman. She lives with her husband, with whom she has 5 children. Only two of their children live with them in the house that she inherited from her mother. Continuing on a family tradition, she knits by hand, which she has done since she was 15 years old. She doesn't like the knitting machines that many use currently, because she believes that the art is found in the effort and work that goes into it.

She happily said that the majority of her income she receives from making sweaters, hats, gloves and other types of clothing from alpaca wool. She sells her goods in different cities nearby, as well as exporting a few that are requested by export factories. She has great hope that some day she will be able to start her own export cooperative, where she would be able to share her art with the world.

This is the first loan she has taken out through KIVA. She is thankful for the opportunity that has been offered to her to continue progressing in her business. She promises to make her payments on time. Lucinda will invest 500 nuevo soles in the purchase of alpaca wool.
