Maria Elizabet's story

Maria is 38 years old and is a hardworking, enterprising woman. She is married and has five children, two of whom attend secondary school and the other three also attend school. They help their parents after school in the home and in the fields. She has a third grade education and was not able to continue because her parents were of limited resources. She raises coffee and has been doing so, along with her husband, for six years. It was her parents who taught her when she was very young. The land they work belongs to them, thanks to the work and effort they put in together to acquire it and it’s located one km from her home. They walk there each day to maintain their crops.

She is asking for help to buy fertilizer and compost for her coffee crops. They are expensive and she needs them so that her crops will be healthy and free from disease that destroys crops completely.

Her goal is to keep her crops healthy and free from disease and other things that can damage them, so that she will have a good harvest and be able to obtain better earnings. This is her only form of support for her family and her children’s future.
