Mahougnon 1 Group's story

Mahougnon 1 is a group of three people, who all live in the same area. The representative of the group, named Akouavi Elisabeth, is the one whose hand is raised in the photo. She is 50 years old and did not go to school. She is married to a certain Andre. The couple has three children; all go to school and all are under their care. Akouavi Elisabeth lives together with her husband and children. Together, the couple takes care of the household expenses.

To support her needs, Akouavi Elisabeth has been selling akassa balls (made with a corn base) for 25 years. She procures her goods from a market in Benin.

In order to strengthen her business and meet the needs of her customers, Akouavi Elisabeth joins with the other members of the Mahougnon 1 group for their fourth loan from Alide. Their previous loans have all been repaid correctly.
