A loan of $1,525 helped to buy vegetables and legumes by the ton.

Lourdes's story

Lourdes, 31, is a hardworking woman. She lives with and cares for her mother and her three children in her parents' house.

Since she started to work with her association, she started a business buying and selling vegetables, grains, and tubers, which she brings to the closest city to sell. She says that she has to take maximum advantage of the harvest season, because goods cost very little and she can earn a better profit. She has been in this business for four years. "Every time I receive a load of goods, I send my mother the necessary amount of products so she can sell them," she says. Her work is very good because she is a wholesaler and she distributes to retailers who reach the biggest markets in the country. She spends her free time caring for her animals.

This is her second Kiva loan. She is grateful for the support during all these years, because she was able to administer her money and make it productive. Lourdes will invest this loan of 4,000 Peruvian soles in the purchase of legumes and vegetables by the ton to invest in her business and supply her clients.
