A loan of $575 helped to buy construction materials.

Elva Marina's story

Elva is a 44-year-old woman who lives in the city of Pucallpa with her husband and their four children, whom she loves and who are her main reason for living. She is a very kind, hardworking, and enthusiastic person who, along with her husband, puts all her effort toward getting her family ahead. Unfortunately, due to a lack of financial resources and a need to work from a very young age to help her parents, Elva was not able to pursue the nursing degree she wanted. In her free time she likes to make delicious grilled fish to share with her family.

On her own initiative and with a great deal of hard work and dedication, Elva runs her small business selling snow cones. She makes delicious, fruit-flavored snow cones and sells them outside her home. She works every day for around 10 hours and she thinks it is going well because of the good service she provides to her customers.

Elva is very thankful to Kiva's lenders, as it is thanks to the help they have offered that she will be able to buy construction materials such as wood, nails, paint, and others, which will be a great help in improving the space where she sells her snow cones. This will allow Elva to offer her customers better service and she will keep working and putting her effort into achieving her great dream of having a big restaurant that sells fried foods.
