Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $650 helped to buy plastic and rubber shoes to sell.

Emma Aracely's story

Emma Aracely is a young woman from San Martin Jilotepeque. She is 33 years old and has been selling plastic and rubber shoes outside the municipal market of San Martin for over eight years. She sells plastic boots for adults, men's and women's plastic shoes, sandals in different styles, colors and sizes, and children's shoes.

Emma is requesting a loan because the winter season is approaching and it is the time of year when demand increases; so she needs more stock covering a wide variety of sizes, styles and colors.
