A loan of $4,375 helped a member to buy insecticides.

10 De Junio Group's story

The “10 De Junio” Communal Bank is starting its fourth cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Alto Lima Regional Hub. It is made up of eight members and governed by a board of directors. Juana is the treasurer. The members' business are varied and include: vegetable sales, weaving blankets, clothing sales, insecticide sales, coca sales, and shoemaking. This loan will help these small businesses. Juana tells us that she joined Pro Mujer a year and a half ago at the invitation of a friend who is also a member of the institution. Juana has an insecticide sales business (insecticides and rat traps). She tells us that she started this business at the recommendation of a friend, and she has worked in this area for several years. This loan is for an increase in working capital (the purchase of insecticides) which she will acquire in the wholesale markets. She will later sell these products in her sales space. This work allows her to generate an income to maintain her household where possible. She is in a long-term relationship and has five children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes the training and the meetings.
