A loan of $1,550 helped to pay for the cost of crop fertilizer, irrigation and harvest.

Lucio's story

Lucio, 64, lives in the city of Nazca with his wife and five children who he loves and are the main motivation in his life. He is a kind, hard-working, enthusiastic man who makes every effort, together with his wife, to provide for the family. Unfortunately, because of a lack of economic resources and a need to start working from a very young age to help his parents, Lucio was unable to finish his primary education, making it impossible to get a professional degree. In his free time he enjoys watching television and somestimes even cooks a delicious roast chicken to share with his family.

On his own initiative, and with much determination and dedication, Lucio works in agriculture. He says he has a small patch of land where he grows corn, and works every day for about eight hours. He enjoys what he does and believes he is doing well because of his experience and kindness to others.

Lucio is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to their help he can pay for the cost of crop fertilizer, irrigation and harvesting. This will mean he will produce a good crop and be able to continue working toward his greatest dream of seeing his youngest daughter obtain a professional degree.
