A loan of $575 helped to buy a refrigerator and soft drinks for her country retreat.

Lucia's story

Lucia, age 65, is divorced and lives in her own home with her two daughters (ages 20 and 22 respectively). Her daughters are by her side and help her with the family business. Lucia has a country retreat that is located next her home. This place has a swimming pool and different recreational areas for having fun. In addition, she sells soft drinks, food, and other regional products. Lucia says that she started this business because her friends were looking for a place where they could relax and unwind since there were no suitable recreational getaways. It was at that point that she decided to open a business that offered different settings.

Lucia has the help of her daughters when taking care of her guests. She considers her business to be profitable because there are always people who are looking for an inviting place to spend time with their families. This is her third loan with Kiva and she is very grateful for the financial support she has received. For this reason, she promises to submit her payments in a punctual manner. The amount of 1,500 PEN that she requested will be used to buy a refrigerator and soft drinks for her business.
