A loan of $775 helped to buy rice, sugar, plantains, sweets, and other merchandise.

Delinda's story

Delinda, 55, is very happy and enterprising. She is the single mother of two children, ages 24 and 21, who attend college. Delinda sells food items such as sweets, sodas, rice, sugar, plantains, and more from a space in her house. She has successfully run the business for 13 years with help from her children. She is most happy that her work allows her time to be with her family. She also earns a good income because she has always had customers among her neighbors and passersby. This is her sixth loan cycle with Kiva, and she is very grateful for the funding that has let her grow her business. She will use the loan of 2000 soles to buy rice, plantains, charcoal, sweets, sodas, and more at wholesale to reduce costs and generate more profit.
