A loan of $575 helped to buy aguajes, fresh fruits and ice.

Camila's story

Camila is 61 years old, she is single and she lives together with her two children in the house she has inherited from her parents. Camila is a retailer, selling “aguajes” (regional fruit) and fruit ice-creams in the street outside her house. She has been engaging in this activity for 30 years: she started it looking for a way to improve her family’s’ conditions, needing to earn her own living as she could not count on support from the father of her children. Thanks to her strength she has succeeded in getting ahead on her own, and thanks to this job she has succeeded in educating and raising her children. At first she met many economic challenges, as she did not have the initial working capital to start her activity; them she got sick and was forced to live on a wheelchair, but not event this has been enough to knock Camila’s strength down, and she keeps on working as much as she can. This is her first loan with Kiva, and she is really grateful for the economic support she has received, as this will provide her with the capital she needs to improve her activity. The loan of 1500 PEN she is requesting will be used to buy aguajes, fresh fruit, ice and other products she needs for her activity.
