Tailoring Group's story

Pictured here are members of the Tailoring Group from Kenema, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. These young gentlemen are tailors who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, in order to apply for a loan of SLL 500,000 for each in the group. With this loan, they will be able to expand their tailoring business, attract more customers, make a better profit and consequently improve on their living conditions. The featured leader of this group of tailors is Amara. He was born in the city of Kenema 54 years ago. He is married and has six children. His wife is a businesswoman and five of his children are attending primary and secondary schools. The last is not of school-going age. Amara has been a professional tailor for many years now. He has requested this loan in order to buy tailoring materials like cloth, thread, pauplin, and related items in order to sew a large quantity of clothes for sale.
