The Tamarrneh United Group's story

Meet with members of the The Tamarrneh United Group from Kenema, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva, to apply for a loan of 1,300,000 SLL each. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their respective businesses, increase their sales and consequently improve their living conditions.

Abibatu is the featured leader of this group. The 35-year-old is married to a trader and they have 2 children who are attending primary school. Abibatu has been a businesswoman for many years now. She sells slippers/flip-flops. With her share of this loan, she will buy slippers/flip-flops in large quantities to add to her current stock.
