In the photo are members of the “Wan Word” group. They are small-scale traders based in Kenema, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. This is not the first loan these entrepreneurs are accessing from SMT/Kiva lenders. However, with the help of this new loan they will be able to further expand their respective businesses, make more profit, and consequently improve on their standard of living.

The featured leader of this group is Fereh Musu. Fereh Musu is age 39. She was born in Kenema city, where she is currently residing together with her husband and 3 children. Her husband is a trader and her children are attending primary and tertiary institutions.

Fereh Musu has been a businesswoman for many years now. She sells dried fish. With this loan, she is going to buy baskets full of dried fish to add to her current stock for sale.
