Jose Luis currently works more than eight hours a day as a dog groomer. With his earnings, he is able to cover expenses such as food and basic services. The loan he is requesting will be used as working capital for buying instruments such as special scissors, as well as shampoo, conditioner, and other supplies. He wants to offer his services as an independent dog groomer on the weekends so that he can earn more income and start his own business in the future.
His dream is to have a business of his own so that he can generate more income and improve his quality of life. This is the first time that Jose Luis has requested a loan from IMPRO and Kiva.
About IMPROIMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.
To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
