Bashir's story

Bashir is a 33-year-old man from Kakamega town in the western part of Kenya. He supports two people in his family: his wife Rose who is a business lady within the same market, and his child who is four years old.

He has a retail shop which has been operating for the last 13 years and makes a monthly income of 20,000 KES. He has taken his third loan with Kenya Agency for Development of Enterprise and Technology (KADET) Ltd, which he will use to add more stock of sugar, salt, cooking oil, maize flour and wheat flour. He will use the anticipated profit to uplift his business and to better his family status.

His dream is to start selling wholesale and to open a supermarket. He also hopes to improve his family's living standard.
