A loan of $1,000 helped to pay for potato and lucerne (alfalfa) seeds.

Haykanush's story

Haykanush is from the Arapi village in the Shirak region where she lives with her husband, mother-in-law, and 11-year-old son.

In the Winter season, Haykanush's husband goes abroad and supports his family financially, but their farming business helps them to have stable income during the month and cover their daily costs.

Their farm currently includes three cows and two pigs. They also cultivate barley and potato and grow apple and pear trees with great love and care. The gathered harvest is sold locally, and this helps the family to sustain their living.

As it is very difficult for Haykanush to save money for the expansion of the farm (all their income is spent on covering basic costs), she has applied to SEF International for a loan. With the loan's help Haykanush will purchase potato and lucerne seeds and will be able to gather more harvest.

The expansion of the farm is vital for Haykanush to sustain her family and ensure better future for her son.
