Carmen's story

Carmen, age 43, is a very happy and enthusiastic woman. She is married and lives in her own home with her husband and two children, ages 19 and 9. Carmen sells food; so she gets up really early to go to the market and stock up on various items such as rice, sugar, bijao leaves, fish, bananas, camu camu, and condiments. In the afternoons she prepares her delicious foods. She sells her food from the front of her home on a large table. She has worked in this spot for six years and has a good income. During this time, she has used her income to expand her home.
In the beginning it was hard to build up clientele because of her business' location, but with time people started to recommend her business because of her good customer service and her delicious food; her clientele expanded.
She hopes to expand her business because she has many plans for the future. This will be her fifth loan on Kiva and she is very grateful for the financial support. With the requested 3000 soles, she will buy products wholesale such as rice, oil, condiments, and bananas. She will also buy some chairs for her customers' comfort.
