A loan of $575 helped to buy bags, dresses, footwear, and hair products.

Beatriz's story

Beatriz, 64, is a hair stylist in a space set up in her home. She makes the most of it to sell cosmetics and hair products as well as everything her customers request, such as footwear, clothing, women's accessories, etc. She accepts cash and credit, while she uses only cash to buy from suppliers of beauty products and in shopping centers.

Her work day begins at 9 a.m and ends at 9 p.m. She dedicates this time to her customers, who are neighbors from the area, friends, and referrals who have become her steady customers.

She started her business when her husband died. On finding herself alone, she decided to generate income by selling a few products. Later she trained in beauty techniques. Today she combines these activities perfectly and they generate the income to support her household.

Currently she's applying for a Kiva loan, her first financing from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. With it she'll buy bags, dresses, footwear, and hair products to use as supplies as well as to sell.

Her goal is to continue supporting her children. Her biggest challenge was managing to support her family, which is also her biggest success.
