Yeredon C Group's story

The members of the Yeredon C group are married women with an average age of 31 and, on average, 5 children, who all live in polygamous families in Foh, one of the villages in Sikasso, the third administrative region of Mali. They are working with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution in order to be able to carry out their farming activities during the rainy season. This is their 6th loan from the institution. Their previous loans have been properly repaid.

Maimouna, standing in the middle of the picture, grows sorghum. She plans to use her loan to buy seeds and fertilizer needed for the cultivation of 0.75 hectares of farmland. After the harvest, the produce is sold in her village and at the Sikasso market to a clientèle made up of men and women. She expects to make an average profit of 55 000 francs per crop cycle. This profit will allow her to repay her loan and to support her husband with the daily living expenses.
