A loan of $1,175 helped to buy organic manure for his fields.

Orlando's story

Orlando is 48 years old and married to Maria, with whom he has 3 children. They live together in their own house. For 26 years he has been dedicated to agriculture, sowing green peas, potatoes, and corn, in addition to different types of gladiolas in the fields he inherited from his parents.

What Orlando likes most about the work is harvesting potatoes and gladiolas, which sell rapidly in the wholesale market of his city due to their quality, which is recognized by his customers.

This activity allows Orlando to live comfortably and, at the same time, to provide an adequate education for his children. Also, with the earnings, he is able to obtain animals such as cows, horses and asses to facilitate the agricultural work. His desire to progress has led him to consider buying productive lands for sowing larger additional fields in the future.

This is Orlando's 4th loan through Kiva, making him even more committed to being punctual and responsible concerning his payments. Orlando will invest the 3,000 sols in purchasing organic manure to nourish his crops.
