A loan of $1,200 helped to renovate the shop and renew the work area.

Rebaz's story

Rebaz is a 24-year-old Iraqi man. He is single and lives with his family, whom he helps to support with his income.

Rebaz is currently running a small local fast food restaurant, which has been in business for 12 years now. The little shop makes the locally popular sandwiches, and Rebaz would like to continue to provide his clients with the good quality items they have become accustomed to. At the same time, to ensure the small shop continues to meet the standards prescribed by local regulations, Rebaz would like to renovate the shop and renew the work area. To be able to pay for the improvement works, Rebaz took out a loan from Relief International Microfinance Iraq.

Rebaz is under 30 and as such qualifies for a youth loan.

Based on the political and social challenges of lending in Iraq, personally identifiable information about this borrower has been altered for their protection. RI-Iraq appreciates Kiva lenders' consideration of these challenges and encourages lenders to continue their support for Iraqi borrowers.
