Jameela Group
In this Group: Jameela, Tahira, Balqees, Zaib
Jameela is a 35-year-old woman who is living in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, with her husband and five children. Her husband is a diabetic and she always worries about his health. For 20 years her husband has been running a wood shop, which is the only source of income for their family. He is an excellent carpenter and he has good skills at making quality furniture.

As a member of this 4-person group, Jameela has requested a loan from Kiva's partner BRAC Pakistan to help her husband in his business. Her husband would purchase a wood cutting machine and some tools like a hammer, nails, wooden sheets, etc., for his shop. As they have no other source of income, with the help of this loan, her husband will be able to continue his business, and with the net profit he will open a new shop for his son.

Jameela dreams of her children's bright future and prays for her husband's good health. NOTE: In the picture Jameela is raising her hand

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
