Rafeela Group
In this Group: Rafeela, Zaheen
Rafeela is a 24-year-old responsible mother of two children. She is living in Rawalpindi, Pakistan along her husband and children in a rented house. Her husband has run a garment shop for five years and this is the only source of income for her family. Her household expenses are very large compared to the business income, because she is facing a lot of financial problems in life.
As a member of a two person group, Rafeela has requested a loan from Kiva’s partner BRAC Pakistan. With the loan amount her husband would buy new varieties of dresses, shirts, jeans, and suits to attract more customers. His sales would increase and his monthly income and savings would also be increased. With the profit amount Rafeela would purchase her own house.
She is very thankful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan for helping her. NOTE: In the picture Rafeela is raising her hand.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
