A loan of $650 helped to buy certified coffee seed to plant.

Reina Isabel's story

Reina is an enterprising, hardworking 52-year-old woman. She is married and has a son who lives under her roof and helps her with different kinds of fieldwork, such as cleaning, fertilization, fumigation, and cutting her coffee plants. She has a fourth-grade education; she was not able to go further because her parents could not support her at the time. She sells her produce and she also has a small grocery store that allows her to help her partner with the household expenses. She has worked in farming for a long time and she was taught by parents when she was very young. She sells her produce to the dealers who come to the area and to others who come around and they say her produce is good-quality and clean. They own the land they cultivate and they were able to get it through years of her partner's hard work.

She is currently asking for a loan to buy certified coffee seed and to plant it so she can make a profit and have a guaranteed harvest.

Her plan for the future is to have a big coffee plantation that offers variety to her customers and to everyone who consumes her produce. This will allow her to make more income, which will help strengthen the inheritance she leaves her child and grandchildren so that they can work the land from generation to generation.
