A loan of $775 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Zonia's story

Fifty-two-year-old Zonia is a simple and hardworking woman. She lives with her father in her own home.

The area she lives in is very isolated; there are natural springs and a lot of vegetation, which is why she learned to work in farming from a very young age. She tells us that her main crops are peas, potatoes, and corn. Like a good countrywoman she gets up early in the morning and sets out to work on her crops, plowing her furrows and nourishing them with organic fertilizer. She hopes to be able to focus on improving her crops, as she likes planting more than anything now that she no longer has children who depend on her and she wants to fill her time with what she likes most. This is her first loan with Kiva and she is thankful for the help she has been offered, which is why she promises to make her payments on time. Zonia will invest her 2,000 soles in organic fertilizer to nourish her crops.
