A loan of $2,775 helped a member to buy shoes.

Reyes Group's story

The communal bank “REYES” is about to begin its fifth cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Central Focus of Senkata. This group is made up of eight members and has a governing board headed by Jeovana, the president. The members of this group run a variety of businesses which include, a neighborhood store, a bag store, a butcher's shop, a natural fruit and juice business, a shoe store, and food stand. The loan the group is requesting will help the small business owners of Jeovana's communal bank group. Jeovana has been a member of Pro Mujer for eight years. She joined the group at the invitation of a friend. Currently, Jeovana owns a shoe store that she opened with her first loan through the institution. This new loan will help Jeovana to increase her capital so that she can buy shoes from the city fair in Oruro to later sell in her store. This will help Jeovana (who lives with her partner and son) to help her family pay its household expenses. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Jeovana says that she enjoys the training sessions on the topics of health, credit, and savings.
