A loan of $1,550 helped to buy organic soil amendments.

Adela's story

Adela, 43, is married to the father of her three daughters. They all live in her own house, located in a farming hamlet. Adela's a strong and hardworking woman who has done agricultural labor since she was 18.

She grows a variety of potatoes because the fertile soil in her area allows her to get quality crops. "The taste of the potato in my area is special, which is why I always sell my products," she says. In addition, five years ago she decided to leave her city to take her crops to the coastal cities, where they are well received.

Sometimes her harvest isn't big enough for the buyers. This is why she has to buy several sacks of this tuber from other farmers. This way she and her husband work in harmony on behalf of the family's welfare.

This is her second Kiva loan. She's grateful for this opportunity to continue with her agricultural work.

Adela will invest the 4000 soles [PEN] in buying organic soil amendments to nourish her fields.
