Leonarda's story

Leonarda was born in the city of Yanatile (Calca, Cusco, Peru), but she lives in the city of Salvación. (The city of Salvación is located in the district of Manu in the province of Manu, in the department of Madre de Dios, Peru).

Leonarda is 47 years old and is in a free union relationship from which she has six children. She is a hard-working and entrepreneurial woman who is raising her family. Her principal economic activity is agriculture. She has a number of plots of land where she plants bananas, pineapples, yuccas, corn, and other crops. She has already worked in this business for a number of years, and it is going very well for her, thanks to the effort that she puts into her work. She belongs to the communal bank "Tesoritos del Manu" (Little Treasures of Manu), and at this time she needs the loan to buy seeds and fertilizers. She is grateful for and values the loan, and she promises to make her monthly payments.
