A loan of $975 helped buy meat, as well as supplies for his farm.

Antero's story

38-year old Antero is a hardworking man. He lives in his own house with his wife and two daughters. He works mainly as a businessman buying and selling meat from a stall he has in the market, a business he’s had for ten years. He began when a group of people from the market invited him to work with them; when it proved to be profitable, he invested in a stall.

Before starting this business, Antero had a problem finding work. The only work he could find was casual labour, nothing permanent.

As well as selling meat, Antero rents land on which he grows and then sells different types of produce such as yuca, corn etc. He hopes to grow his business and also buy land for his crops so that he always has a job.

This is his first loan with Kiva and he is very excited and grateful for the financial assistance. He promises to be responsible and punctual with the repayments. With the S/.2,500 soles he plans to buy meat for his business and agricultural supplies to maintain his fields.
