A loan of $500 helped to buy sheep and goats.

Souleymane's story

Mr. Souleymane is 33 years old and lives with his wife and child in a traditional family in N’tentou, in the subprefecture of Oulessebougo, Koulikoro region.
Souleymane is a teacher; in addition, he also earns income in other ways, such as buying and reselling small lovestock. He has learned this trade from his maternal uncle, who used to be a well-known vendor of small livestock (sheep and goats).

With the goal of meeting the growing customer demand, he has decided to collaborate with Soro Yiriwaso and is now on his first individual loan intended for buying 10 sheep and five goats from farmers in the nearby villages on market days. He will then resell to diverse wholesalers coming from big cities, for cash. He hopes to earn an average monthly income of 80,000 West African francs, which will be used to repay the loan and reinvest in his business.
