A 60-year-old married father, Horn is a local farmer residing in the Moung Russey district of Battambang Province. To deal with his family's daily living costs, he grows rice and sesame on two hectares. This is the business that he has been with for 10 years. Horn is a second-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s parter). He has fully repaid back his original loan with success; it enabled him to support himself better than before. Now, he is applying for a new loan of 3,000,000 KHR to buy fertilizer, insecticide, and seed, and to pay for labor on his farmland. He hopes to earn more yields and make a better profit profit than he did last year so that he can keep supporting his family.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
