A loan of $3,275 helped a member to buy more salon equipment and to start selling cosmetics in her salon.

Babati Group's story

Aisha, who is in her mid 30s, is married with two children, both of whom are grown-ups. She has been running a beauty salon for five years now. She works from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily and is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be Aisha's 5th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to repair her salon by putting in wall tiles, restocking the out-of-stock salon equipment; she has paid back all her loans successfully. She used the profits to start building her own house and cover household expenses. She will use this loan to buy more salon equipment and to start selling cosmetics in her salon. Her dream is to one day be able to finish building her house.

Aisha will share this loan with her loan group Babati. Its 8 members will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
