A loan of $5,675 helped a member to buy fruit..

Nuevos Horizontes (Cuenca) Group's story

The Nuevos Horizontes communal bank is made up of eight hardworking ladies who are constantly in search of better financial stability in their homes and for ways to get their families ahead. They have different businesses but especially they are merchants. They are very happy, charismatic ladies who always smile and still maintain their culture and traditions that their parents taught them. They live in the city of Cuenca, a place that has great natural and cultural beauty, a cool climate, and that maintains the people's culture and traditions.

Maria Rosario has been a member of the communal bank for 14 years and she enjoys it because of the unity and camaraderie that exists between all of her friends and fellow members. Rather than being just a group of friends, they are like a family. At the same time, the loan helps her improve her finances.

Maria Rosa is 62 years old, is a single mother of two adult children who live on their own. They are married and have their own families. Her house is the fruit of her own labor.

Maria Rosa has been a fruit merchant for 45 years and works seven days a week without a fixed schedule. She raises Guinea pigs in her home and sells them in the city.

She is asking for this loan in order to buy seasonal fruits. Her goal is to continue her business.
