A loan of $550 helped to purchase supplies: manure, herbicide and fungicide.

Abner José's story

Condega, a municipality located in the northern section of Estelí department, is renowned for its potters, handicrafts and for its hard-working population. Abner José lives with his wife and son in a village in the eastern section of the municipality. He is responsible for supporting his son and ensuring that he receives an education.

He is a farmer that cultivates corn and beans and that also operates small-scale cattle ranching. Known as an honest and hard-working individual, Abner José owns a property of roughly 17.5 acres [10 manzanas] that is divided into sections for agriculture and cattle ranching.

He recently visited Ceprodel's offices to request a loan to prepare his fields for the first planting; to buy manure, herbicide and fungicide, and to cover the expenses of manual labour. He hopes to do well and to give his crops of corn and beans the maintenance they require.

He has taken out loans previously and has repaid them on time. The loan will have a positive impact on him and his family as they work on the farm, planting crops during each agricultural cycle. The income they earn from each harvest helps to improve their quality of living and their economic well-being.
