A loan of $1,350 helped to start a business.

Javier's story

Javier is originally from Piedras Negras and has lived here all his life. He is responsible and enterprising and always on the look out for new ways to make a living with which to support his family. As he says, his family are the most marvellous thing he has. Javier drives a lorry. He is a good husband and a father to his eight-year-old son.

Javier is applying for support through Kiva as he would like to start his own grocery store. In his local area there is no similar business so it is a good idea as he would be able to provide all the things his neighbours - who would be his main customers - need. However, he would start the business little by little, later on making it more official and expanding it. Javier really wants the business to grow so that one day his son can manage it. In the meantime, while Javier goes out to work as a lorry driver, his wife would run the grocery stroe.
