Mónica's story

Mónica, who is 39-years old, lives in the southwest of the city with her husband and young, 11-year old daughter. Mónica dreams of seeing her daughter become a successful and well-educated person. She is Mónica's motivation for tending to her daily tasks. Monica has eleven years experience in appearance and beauty, which she turned into a income-generating business. She offers services in improving one's personal appearance, like dyes, haircuts, scalp massage, hair coloring etc. Her idea for the business was born after having studied at an academy where they propelled her aptitude for this art. Mónica's main customers are women, men and children. She is open for her customers from 8:00 in the morning until 8:00 at night. She is currently applying for a Kiva loan, her first loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. With it she will purchase supplies like lotions, dyes and nail polish in larger volume so she can get better discounts on her purchases and increase her profits. Her goal in the future is to have her own store front. This is also her greatest challenge, which is why she works with so much care.
