A loan of $575 helped to improve her business premises.

Sonia's story

Sonia is 49 years old. She's a very hard-working woman who lives with her husband in a house that she owns. Sonia sells food in a stall she owns in a local market. She has been in this business for seven years and does it on her own initiative. She's always seeking to obtain profits in order to improve her family's living conditions. Previously she didn't have a place where she could sell her food, and she sold it door-to-door and on the streets. However, thanks to her family, she was able to get ahead and improve her work. She now sells meals through a small local vendor.

As an enterprising woman, Sonia hopes to keep on making progress and to improve her business venue so she can provide better service for her customers. This is her first Kiva loan. She's very thankful for the financial support she has gotten, which is why she pledges to make her repayments in a timely fashion. With the requested amount of 1500 soles she'll buy tables, chairs and cooking utensils to improve her business premises.
