La Nueva Esperanza Group's story

‘La Nueva Esperanza’ [The New Hope] is the name of the group comprised of nine members. Each one of them works at a business activity with the objective of getting their families ahead and giving them a better quality of life.

Olga Lidia is one of the members of this group. She is 47 years old. She only attended elementary school. She is married to Facundo, a bricklayer. They have one child, Fernando, who goes to elementary school.

She tells us that she has always been a hard-working woman who looks for a way to help her husband with the household expenses. They came to live in this neighborhood six years ago, and she saw that there were no stores. They had to walk a lot when they needed to makes purchases. That is how she decided to set up a small grocery store in her home in order to earn her own money and provide service to her neighbors.

A loan from VisionFund will help her to buy cookies, sweets, soft drinks, coffee, eggs, flavorings, toilet paper, rice, beans, soap, and cooking oil in order to restock her business. In the future she hopes to be able to build a place in front of her house to set up her store.
