Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $600 helped to buy six bags of fertilizer, fifty pounds of corn seeds and other supplies.

Mauro Adán's story

Mauro is 64 years old, married and has four children. He has worked a lot his whole life and has been able to remain as strong as a young person. He has been working with agriculture and cattle since he was a kid, taught by his parents. He could not attend school because of the lack of money. The piece of land where he works is located on a hilltop, so he must ride his horse on steep roads in order to go to work.

Mauro is requesting a loan to Fundación Campo to buy six bags of fertilizer, fifty pounds of corn seeds and other supplies needed to grow corn in a 14,000 m2 piece of land. He lives in a remote area, so it is difficult for him to travel on a frequent basis to buy agricultural supplies. Mauro’s dream is to build a brick house, since the one where he lives now is made of adobe. This way, he and his family will have a safer place to live in.
