A loan of $725 helped a member to buy materials for building a decent latrine, including a latrine bowl, tile, drain, sewage receptacle, etc.

Sokhom's Group's story

Sokhom is 43 years old and married. She lives with her family in a rural area located in the Samrong district of the Takeo province. She has four dependent children, two of whom are still in school. Rice farming is the only primary source of her family’s income, and she has been in this business for 25 years. With the current business, she can earn approximately 16,000 KHR per day and save about 7,000 KHR each day for future needs.

This is the fourth micro-loan for Sokhom with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She fully repaid the previous loans which have helped her better support her family with enough food. Now she is leading her group to ask for a loan. Sokhom is going to use her portion to buy materials for building a decent latrine, such as a latrine bowl, tile, drain, sewage receptacle, etc. She hopes this loan will enable her family to have a healthy latrine and improve their standard of living.
