A loan of $2,100 helped a member to pay for her children's education in the Philippines.

Star Group's story

Elizabeth is the featured borrower of Star Group. She joined with the other group members to apply for a loan from Kiva's partner Al Majmoua, because they have been close friends since they arrived in Lebanon to work for their families' livings.

Elizabeth, pictured on the left, is a 45-year-old married woman. She is a mother of four children, for whom she is working hard to provide a good standard of living. She is working as a housekeeper to send her family in the Philippines the necessary money to pay for her children's education, so she can be proud of what they achieve.

Regina, second from the left, is a 34-year-old divorced mother who is sacrificing her whole life to provide her only child with the best living possible. She also works as a housekeeper and her portion of the loan will be sent to the Philippines to pay for her child's education.

Clarita, pictured on the right, is a 44-year-old married woman and mother of two children. Her other group members encouraged her to apply for this loan for the same reasons they had. Education is very important to provide for her children, and she wants to make sure that they will get it exactly as she aims.

Almary, second from the right, is 31 years old and married with five children. She works as a housekeeper and will pay for her children's needs in the Philippines with the applied-for loan.
