A loan of $850 helped to buy manure and fertilizers for her coffee crops.

Cruz's story

Doña Cruz is a young, 30-year-old woman who is hard-working and has a great desire to succeed. She is married with no children. She has an uncompleted elementary school education; she completed second grade and was not able to continue studying due to lack of economic support, as her parents had few economic resources. Her parents were the ones who taught her to work the land from a very young age. As was tradition, her parents and grandparents have all grown coffee. Cruz has a lot of experience; she has been cultivating coffee for over 15 years. The land that she and her husband jointly cultivate is her own, inherited from her parents. It is located one kilometre from her home. She travels to it on foot with her husband and other workers every day in order to work.
Cruz is requesting help to purchase manure and fertilizers for her coffee crops. This will allow her to obtain a healthy harvest and she will be able to take full advantage of her crop.
Her goals are to be able to cultivate a greater variety including other types of products such as corn and beans. This will allow her to achieve her dreams of improving her humble home and buying another piece of land to continue cultivating.
