Juanita makes a living raising cattle in order to sell their milk to an industrial plant named Leche de la Paz. She lives with her husband and children in a house they own that is located in the community of Chojasivi, in the sector of Tambillo, in the province Los Andes, in the department of La Paz. She lives about three hours away from the city of La Paz.

Juanita owns cows of a very good breed that require careful attention, given the weather typical of this region. She is requesting this loan in order to buy construction materials: cement, bricks, corrugated iron, etc. With these, she will be able to repair the stable for her cows. This will keep her cows healthier and improve their milk production.

Juanita and her family hope to acquire more cows in the future.

This is Juanita's first loan with IMPRO and with Kiva.

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
