Margaret's story

Margaret, who lives in Kampala, Uganda, is a single mother of seven children, six of whom attend school. She rents a house with access to both electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees and rent.

Working seven days a week, Margaret has been selling green bananas, her sole source of income, from home for 20 years. Her challenges include seasonality.

Margaret has requested a loan of UShs 100,000 from MCDT- SACCO to enable her to buy more green bananas to sell. Her dream is to accumulate profits that will help her educate her children up to university. She joined MCDT because of their interest in the poor people in the community.
