Kisakye's story

Kisakye lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is single and has four children, and all of them attend school. She is also looking after two brothers. She stays in her house, with access to electricity but not piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees.

She has been selling charcoal from home, at retail, for six years. She works six days a week. She does not have any additional source of income. She has requested a loan of UGX 400,000 from MCDT-SACCO. The loan would enable her to stock more charcoal to resell. Her challenges include seasonality and transportation. Her dream is to expand her business up to wholesale. She joined MCDT in order to get more capital for her business.
