Phon is a 58-year-old married mother of four children. She lives in a rural village of Ou Reang Ov district, Kampong Cham province. She is a hardworking farmer who grows cassava and rice on four hectares of farmland. Together, with hard work, they can earn about 35,000 KHR per day and save about 20,000 KHR each day for their future needs.
Phon has been a member of VisionFund for one cycle already. She has completely paid back the past loan which has helped her to better support her paddy business. Now she is applying for another loan with VisionFund, in the amount of 2,000,000 KHR. She will use this to buy fertilizer for her farmland and to pay for laborers plowing the field. She hopes this loan will enable her to timely plant her cassava and rice so as to sell it for a good price.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
