A loan of $775 helped to buy groceries.

Flor Maribel's story

Flor, age 36, lives in the city of Ica with her two children. She loves them, and they are her main reason for living. She is a very kind, hard-working, and enthusiastic person. She puts all of her efforts into getting her family ahead because she is father and mother to her children. Sadly, due to lack of financial resources and the need she had to work ever since she was very young, Flor was not able to study for a professional career in education as she wished to do. In her free time she likes to relax listening to music. Sometimes she makes the delicious ‘Guiso de Pallares’ [a type of bean stew] to share with her family.

On her own initiative and with great determination and dedication, Flor works in her small business selling groceries. She works every day for approximately ten hours. She believes that it is going well for her because of the good prices and the kind way that she treats her customers.

Flor is very grateful to the Kiva lenders. Thanks to the help given to her, she will be able to buy a greater quantity of groceries like rice, sugar, milk, oil, beans, candy, and others. These will be very useful in stocking her business and tending to more customers. This way Flor will continue working and putting forth great effort in order to fulfill her big dream of having her own house.
