A loan of $5,650 helped a member to buy two rolls of material for making more tie and die pieces.

Lindi Group's story

Amina, who is in her early 30s, is a married woman with three children who are in school. For three years now she has been selling tie and dye clothes up country (this fabric is commonly known as batiki in Tanzania). She works from 10 am to 7 pm if she is in her trading center but normally she travels up country for business. She is able to make a small profit per month. This will be her fourth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. The previous loans, all of which she has paid back successfully, she used to add more rolls of material for her tie and dye. She started by buying ten meters and now she can buy two rolls, which is a great improvement. She is really doing great and is happy with the loans. She used the profit she earned to start building her own house. She will use this loan to buy two rolls of material for making more tie and die pieces. She is dreaming of finishing her house. Amina will share this loan with her ten member loan group "Lindi" who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
