A loan of $650 helped to buy soil amendments and fertilizer to grow coffee.

Maria Paula's story

María, 52, is a determined and enterprising woman whose age doesn't keep her from dreaming big. She's married and has three children who live in her house. The two oldest are in school and the youngest is only three years old.

She finished elementary school and is grateful to her parents for the support they gave her so she could have a basic knowledge. They have limited resources and were unable to continue helping her. They were the ones who taught her to grow coffee from a very young age. Currently she has more than 30 years of experience doing this job with her husband.

In addition to being a coffee grower she also works in retail making bread. She makes it with one of her children and sells it in the area where she lives.

Currently she's requesting help to buy soil amendments and fertilizer for her coffee crop and the nursery she's setting up. She hopes to get a healthy harvest and be able to make the most of it 100%.

Her dreams are to see her children finish college and have better opportunities in life and employment, because working the land is very difficult and there's not a lot of profit.
